Enhancement to DB4B loudspeaker from Eaton

Eaton is pleased to announce that the DB4B, a premium high power, explosion proof loudspeaker has been further enhanced to now include an increased range of certifications. In addition to its existing certifications of ATEX, IECEx, cULus, CUTR, CQST & Inmetro, the DB4B is now certified to include Inmetro, DNV, CCOE and SIL2, expanding its already extensive applications in the oil and gas industry.

Manufactured from a GRP Ex enclosure and rugged thermoplastic flare, the DB4B provides both a corrosion free, and aesthetically pleasing product. The specific SPL figure for sensitivity (1W @ 1m) is 110dB, at 1m andatrated power for the 25W unit produces 124dB, the 15W unit 122dB and the 8W unit 120dB. With the 8W and 15W units generating sufficient SPL to satisfy most specifications, end users are able to install units with lower power consumption, therefore reducing the amount of application and support equipment required. (Please note all SPL ratings are +/- 3dB).

The units are certified for from -55°C up to +70°C*, ensuring that our products are suitable for safe use in the harshest working environments.

The DB4B has an improved frequency response, ensuring that critical voice messages and general alarm tones are highly intelligible. This extended frequency response allows the human voice to be heard and clearly understood, as demonstrated on the below frequency response chart. In addition, the new unit provides a clearer sound for sibilant consonants, allowing for much crisper and intelligible speech.

Options include DC blocking capacitors for monitored systems and a swivel bracket that gives the installer greater flexibility when positioning the unit. The short flare option is a worthy addition to the range offering a high SPL and wide dispersion angle in a compact unit.
